Check Out Our Location on Court Street

May 18th, 2016 Posted by Uncategorized No Comment yet

My, my, my! What a journey…it’s been a hectic, busy but exciting time here at Sweet Lilu’s but we have FINALLY moved into our new building on Court Street, Versailles.
Over the past couple of years, the business has grown so fast that we really did outgrow our kitchen at Bel Air Florists on Lexington Street.

sweet-lilus-court-streetWhilst the baking and decorating side of the business will still be conducted from there, the whole catering side of the company has been installed at Sweet Lilu’s at Court Street.
And….watch this space, because within the next few weeks we will be introducing our new “to go” menu from here too.

We’ve put our collective, creative heads together and come up with a take-out menu we hope will suit all palates.

A taste of what’s to come is “The Woodford”…country ham, Black Forrest ham and bacon on an Hawaiian ciabatta topped with caramelized onion aioli, lettuce and tomato.
Or “The 120″…a smoked maple and Dijon beef brisket, thinly sliced on a ciabatta with cream cheese aioli , sweet pickles and lettuce and tomato.

We will also have some “Shareables” like our onion rings coated in Cougar Bait Beer batter and served with a zesty dipping sauce and some fresh salads and wraps.
Everything will be cooked to order and there’s free delivery if you live within a couple of blocks from Court Street!!

Tune in here for the opening date and more menu options.  Check out our menu here:

Congratulations Melanie!

A massive congratulations to a member of our Sweet Lilu’s family…Melanie Gilhaus.

We are so proud of her. She has just graduated from Sullivan University with a degree in culinary arts!!

IMG_0953Melanie managed (we’re still not sure how ….but the words Wonder Woman come to mind) to juggle her full time job here as our Executive Pastry Chef and Baker and her other full time job as a mum to two lively teenagers! And that’s not our only good news about this special lady….whilst she has been busy baking delicious cakes for our clients she’s been baking her own little bun.

Our Very Own Miss December!!!!

February 9th, 2016 Posted by Uncategorized No Comment yet

Sweet Lilu`s is a family…… it`s a fact that we probably spend more time together than we do with our real families and a special bond has formed between us all.

Over the coming weeks we would like to introduce our Sweet Lilu`s family to you and where better place to start than with the Boss…the one and only Miss Beth Hensley.

Miss DecemberEver wondered where she thought up the company name? Well Sweet Lilu`s was originally named after the two things dearest to her heart. her two young sons Liam and Luke…the sweet element came along a year later in the form of her precious third child and only daughter little Laurel Beth Hensley!

Where does a person start to describe Beth?

Well she is a real “foodie”!!! Juggling looking after her family and her growing business doesn`t really leave her with much down time but when she can grab a quiet minute for herself you will invariably find her reading recipe books or downloading recipes which have caught her eye from the internet..oh ..and eating|! Yes, Beth loves food.

Wildside Winery Valentines Day Luncheon

January 21st, 2016 Posted by Wedding Venues No Comment yet

One of the most lovely things about being caterers in Woodford County Kentucky is we get to visit so many beautiful places when we provide the food for weddings, birthdays and other celebrations. And one of our favorite places is Wildside Winery on Troy Pike here in Versailles.

We have had the privilege to cater many events here over the past couple of years and have got to know the owners Rachel and Neil well , so we were more than delighted when we were asked to come back for another year and cater their special Cupid’s Day luncheon on February 14. This year the luncheon will be coupled with a “Who Dunnit” play and guests will be able to take a stab in the dark or should we say a highly educated guess, as to who committed the dastardly deed!

We’ve come up with a mouth watering menu to tempt and tease you which includes Tuscan salad with among the cast, cranberries, candied walnuts and caramelized onions. There’ll be roasted winter veggies (asparagus, Brussel sprouts, carrots, Portobella mushrooms) and oven roasted chicken smothered with a creamy Dijon sauce and crispy country ham.

Then whilst you and your love are giving some serious thought as to who murdered Mrs. Peacock in the dining room with a candlestick (Oh my! I loved Clue as a child and could play for hours) we will be setting up the dessert station.

How do some red velvet cake shooters, mocha brownies and white chocolate mousse cups with a berry coulis tickle your fancy?

Of course, all this will be complemented with a choice of exclusive Wildside Winery wines chosen to compliment each course. A wine tasting to make your selection will take place around noon before luncheon at 1 PM. Star of the show is the newly launched Dry Rose Cabernet Sauvignon, a crisp, light rose and a perfect partner for the chicken.

And the beauty of a luncheon, if this romantic notion had not already occurred to you, is that it leaves the evening free to cozy up at home with your love, throw a log on the fire and sip a few more glasses of wine!!
For reservations call Wildside Winery (859-879-3982) or visit their website at Wildside Winery.

Tickets are $40 plus tax per person.
Don’t leave it too long to call as last year’s event sold out pretty quickly.

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

January 21st, 2016 Posted by Uncategorized No Comment yet

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow….well actually it was shining bright all weekend at The Lexington Opera House as they launched into their 2016 Broadway Live with the iconic musical Annie.

Playing to packed houses for three nights, followed by rave reviews from the critics, this touring show wowed and delighted the young and not so young in equal measure….and we were there!

IMG_0879Sweet Lilu’s is the official caterer for all the Broadway Live productions and it was our honor to provide the pre-show “nibbles”to the patrons. On the menu were Daddy Warbuck’s Cranberry Brie Bites, Roosters Buffalo Chicken Cups, Punjab Pineapple Sausage Skewer and Miss Hannigan’s Hummus and Roast Veggie display. Then during the intermission of this stunning production we served some stunning productions of our own in the form of one-biIMG_0877te desserts including our own, much acclaimed Annie’s Sunshine Banana Pudding Shooters and Roosevelt’s Red Velvet Cupcakes!

Catering this type of food for between 200-300 people for two nights means our kitchen has been busy round the clock….a veritable hive of bustling activity. But we love it and look forward to our next performance there.

For details of all the upcoming productions in the Broadway Live season visit the venue’s website at The Lexington Opera House

Excitement is Brewing at Sweet Lilu’s

Excitement is brewing at Sweet Lilu’s. With a hectic but amazing Christmas and New Year under our belts 2016 is already gathering momentum here in the kitchen and promises to be our best year ever!

So to launch us into Twenty Sixteen orbit we are delighted to announce our new blog….something we hope will not only keep you up to date with all our Sweet Lilu’s news and events but may even put a smile on your face from time to time.

You’ll get to know a little more about the amazing staff here, learn a little of what goes on in a busy commercial kitchen (we are just like you and have our fair share of culinary disasters!) and be first to hear about new products and up coming events. So tune in regularly, tell all your friends about it and hold on tight for an enjoyable ride!
